Eugene E. Lindborg
August 11, 1928 - July 25, 2011
Eugene "Gene" E. Lindborg, 82, of Michigan City, left us to be with his Savior at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 25 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jon Mikenas officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte, IN. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's United Lutheran Church.
Gene was a life long resident of Michigan City. He was born on August 11, 1928 to the late Carl S. and Amelia (Christenson) Lindborg.
On November 12, 1957 in New Buffalo, MI he married Delores (Nelsen) Lindborg who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving are four daughters: Angela (Michael) Iantria of Michigan City; Lauren (Loren) Caddo of Michigan City; Sandra (Steve) Guziar of Owasso, AK and Diana (Michael) Ehlenfeldt of Sun City, AZ; seven grandchildren; two sisters: Doris Mathis of Elberta, Alabama; Carol Hemczak of Trail Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
His son John Lindborg preceded him in death on May 15, 2010; four brothers are also preceding: Carl, Norman, Oliver and Ronald Lindborg; and two sisters: Anna Wickstrom and Evelyn Schroeder.
He was the former owner of Gene's Septic Service and retired after 22 years at the Michigan City Sanitary District.
Gene was a 1948 graduate of Isaac C. Elston High School and was a member of the Red Devils football team and an award winning track runner.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and football. A devoted husband, father and grandpa, he will be sadly missed by all.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
