Ruth Ellen Yentes October 22, 1924 - December 15, 2017
Ruth Ellen (Ellison) Yentes, 93, of Michigan City, Indiana died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Life Care Center, Michigan City, Indiana. She was born in Andrews, Indiana on October 22, 1924, daughter of Samuel E. Ellison and Ida Mae (Gesaman) Ellison.
A graduate of Andrews High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne, she was employed by E.H. Kilbourne and Farnsworth Television. She married Wallace H. Yentes on June 2, 1946. Their lifes work took them to Muncie, West Lafayette and Michigan City, Indiana and Bradenton, Florida. They retired in Ruskin, Florida and spent time in Mason, Ohio before returning to Michigan City, Indiana in 2015.
In Michigan City, Ruth was active in school and church activities, serving on Evening Guild and St. Johns Church Consistory and was a member of the handbell choir. She worked for a number of years for Woodruff & Sons. While living in Florida, she was a member of United Community Church in Sun City Center and was a member of the handbell choir there for ten years.
Surviving are her husband, Wallace; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Harry Ringer, of Tampa, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Debby (Newman), of St. Paul, Minnesota; daughter, Patricia Pizarek of Michigan City, Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gary Stark of Ponte Vedra, Florida; and daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard Harding of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren, Jeff and Cassie Yentes, Dan and Kristin Yentes, Eve Newman, Peter and Kathy Pizarek, Amy (Pizarek) and Andrew Crane, Allyson (Stark) and Greg Dawson, Addison and Hannah Harding and Sam Harding; great-grandchildren Jack and Henry Yentes, Benjamin and Paige Pizarek, William and Eleanor Crane, and Charlotte Dawson.
Preceding her in death were one brother, Richard Ellison, and two sisters, Mary Margaret Jackson and Annice Buesking, as well as daughter-in-law, Molly (Healy) Yentes and son-in-law, James Pizarek.
Funeral service will be at St Johns United Church of Christ, 101 St. John Rd., Michigan City, Indiana on Wednesday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Andrews, Indiana.
