Phillip Conaway September 1, 1940 - April 1, 2021
Phillip Conaway, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana passed away on Thursday April 1, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Root Funereal Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Phillip was born on September 1, 1940 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Ralph and Dola (Taylor) Conaway.
On August 29, 1964 in Michigan City he married Diana G. Turek who passed on September 2, 2006.
Phillip is survived by Jennifer (John) Hooper and Jason Conaway; three grandchildren; Madeline, Wyatt, and Faith; one sister, Kay Hinshaw of Indianapolis ; nephews and many caring friends.
Phillip was retired from Bethlehem Steel after thirty seven and half years of service. He was the founder of the Duneland model Railroad club. Phillip was a train enthusiast, avid antique collector. He has a knack for making, building, and fixing all most anything. Phillip was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1955. He served as Trustee, Finance committee and usher. Phillip was a kind, quiet soul.
He was a graduated from Elston High School in 1958 and Indiana University in 1962. He was an Army Veteran. The family would like to thank his caregivers Mary Anne and Judy from Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
