Russell "Rusty" Luther Sahm III, 63, of Merrillville passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026 at University of Illinois Health Center from the results of an accident.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Burns Funeral Home.
Rusty was born January 6, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Russell L. Sahm Jr. and Sandra (Halleck) Sahm Paproski.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Russell L. and Candace Sahm Jr; siblings, Greg Sahm, Barbara (Johnathon) Benjamin, David Sahm, Toby Conn, Kendra (Jr.) Daves, and Michael (Tracey) Conn; also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother and his guardian angel Sandra.
Words cannot begin to describe the life of Russell Luther "Rusty" Sahm III. Rusty to all who got to know him was bigger then life. He lived in Pennsylvania, Texas, Chesterton and Merrillville. Traveling to many states and countries. His love for family, friends and a strong work ethic having worked for Sears in Merrillville for twenty nine years and then for Strack and VanTil in Crown Point for many years gave him many friends.
In his spare time he was passionate about movies, flowers and cards. He loved to see people smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace Rusty you have earned your wings.
