Warren L. Hardesty July 8, 1947 - October 29, 2014
Warren L. "Woody" Hardesty, 67, of Michigan City passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 8:25 a.m. at Inpatient Hospice at Franciscan Saint Anthony Health Center.
Celebration of Life services will b e held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Ash officiating. Burial will follow services in Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo, Michigan. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Woody was born July 8, 1947 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Charles L. and Glethern (Overman) Hardesty Odom. His step-father Curtis Odom is also preceding him in death.
On October 4, 2012 in New Buffalo, Michigan he married Marty Turner Hardesty who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving are four children, Matthew Hardesty of Michigan City, Jill Hardesty of South Bend, Mark (Cori) Hardesty of La Porte and Sara Allen of New York City; one step son, Steve Ruszkowski of New Buffalo, Michigan; eight grandchildren; Ellen Hardesty, Amaya Shannon and Miles Whiting, Claire and Blake Hardesty and Alyssa, Lily and Craig Ruszkowski; and one sister Helen Kathy (John) Kelly of La Porte.
Woody is preceding in death by one brother Kenneth M. Hardesty.
Woody was retired from Blue Chip Casino as a dealer, he also worked for over twenty two years as a manager at McDonalds and at Hardesty arpets.
He was a member of Queen of All Saints Church, was an Army veteran serving in Viet Nam, and was an avid sports fan and especially the Cubs. He was an outgoing, really cool and social person who made friends with everyone and loved being around people. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made to any Veterans organization in his memory.
